Jaiden Wettstein, Baritone, is a musician from New York. Currently, he is a student in the Double Degree program at The Johns Hopkins University. He is pursuing a B.A. in Romance Languages (with a dual language concentration in Spanish and Italian) as well as a B.M. in Vocal Performance under Baritone William Sharp at the Peabody Institute of Music.
Born and raised on Long Island, Jaiden found an early love of music through his membership in the choirs of St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre, NY. Under the baton of Choirmaster and Organist Michael Bower, Jaiden has had the privilege to perform various choral masterworks including Handel’s Messiah, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Faure’s Requiem, and most recently Mahler’s Symphony No. 2. The St. Agnes choirs have given Jaiden the opportunity to tour many countries with performance highlights such as Mozart's Requiem at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, Austria and the annual “A City Singing at Christmas Concert” at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC. Jaiden has also had the privilege of being a member of the 2022 ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) Eastern Division’s high school honor choir as well as the 2022 NAfME (National Association for Music Education) All-National honor choir.
Jaiden’s catalog of repertoire remains ever growing. Ever since starting formal voice lessons at age 9, he has had the opportunity to study everything from Gregorian chant and Bel Canto Opera Arias to contemporary American musical theater and more. Jaiden has always felt at home on the stage ever since his first performance of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Ballet at age 2. Jaiden is a strong believer in the importance of being a well-rounded performer and is always searching for new styles and genres to delve into and learn about whether it be in the worlds of dance, drama, or music.
Some of Jaiden’s most recent performances have included Peabody Opera Theatre’s production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni as a member of the Ensemble, the Peabody Hopkins Conservatory Choir’s performance of Joel Puckett’s This Mourning and Mozart’s Requiem, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with the St. Agnes Cathedral choirs and the South Shore Symphony.
